SNEHPAD

SNEHPAD, the Society for North East Handmade Paper Development, Assam, began under KVIC in 2005 to promote livelihoods for North Eastern youth, and grew from handmade paper into pottery, wood craft and handloom weaving. Today it works with more than 1,000 traditional women weavers across 10 rural craft clusters in the Jorhat and Golaghat districts of Upper Assam, with equipped Common Facility Centres. Its producer enterprise, Bekajan Artistic Weaving Producer Company Ltd., is owned directly by the artisans and centralises yarn procurement, quality checks and sales.
